Taking cinnamon for diabetes?

I heard cinnamon is good for pre-diabetes and diabetes. But I also heard it's bad for your liver and kidneys. Is that true?

It is true that cinnamon has health benefits regarding diabetes; however, there is a chemical that is certain cinnamon that is toxic to the liver and may have some cancer risk as well. Ceylon cinnamon seems to have less coumarin than and may be safer in this regard; however, also may not have as many diabetes benefits. Taken in small amounts in yogurt or cereals this is safe. Cinnamon supplements may not provide much health benefit and may pose some risks.
The reports of cinnamon on blood sugars and cholesterol are observations. The American Diabetes Association does not recommend cinnamon supplements and it can be dangerous if you have liver disease.
