Teeth shifting after braces off and waiting for my retainer?

I got my braces off on Wednesday and have to wait a week for my retainer. Will my teeth shift loads to the point I need my brace on again or should I scrape it and be ok?

Teeth Movements after braces are off can be either minor or severe, depending on the treatment you received and depending your cheek & tongue muscle strengths. Some orthodontic providers make a temporary retainer before your other retainer arrives. It's best to consult your own provider on your questions to get the best answer for your particular situation.
No your teeth won't shift loads in a few weeks. They may shift a little, so that the retainers exert a little pressure on the teeth after you put it in. This will go away after a few hours. That's why orthodontists recommend retainers to keep teeth in the proper relation when you're done with treatment
Your teeth will begin to reposition themselves quite rapidly especially when you initially get your braces removed. It is very very important that you get your retainer and where it faithfully. The retainer will probably fit tightly when you first get it as it will shift the teeth back to the position they were at when your braces were first removed.
