What is the best test to check for heart problems?

I am a 48 year old male. I want to get tested for heart health. What is the best test to check for heart problems?

A good physical exam with an EKG and chest XR will be the least. I usually add blood work including fasting cholesterol and Coronary Ca score.
There is no single "best test," and the choice depends on the suspected problem. Routine screening in the absence of other abnormalities or symptoms is not generally recommended. For those where any sudden death risk would be unacceptable, screening tests are used -- these include professional and school (unlikely at your age) athletes, astronauts, and a
variety of public safety persons. The decision on how to best "screen" corporate officers for whom corporate insurance is purchased is not considered a compelling medical question.
