Best to be proactive and approach your surgeon and anesthesiologist
It depends on the surgery, the surgeon, and the surgical technique. Could be anything from sedation and local anesthetic to a nerve block with sedation, to a General anesthetic
It depends on what part of the foot the surgery is being done and how extensive the surgery is. Anesthesia can range from local anesthetic to block a branch of one nerve, regional anesthetic to block the main nerves supplying the foot like the sciatic nerve (block at the knee or hip), a spinal anesthetic at the back or a general anesthesia if complex surgery that involves screws and pins being placed in the foot.
There are plenty of options for foot surgery. Often it is done with sedation and local anesthetic in the surgical area. A nerve block could be used. Even general anesthesia and spinal anesthesia are possibilities. You should speak with your surgeon and anesthesia provider to determine which method will be best for you. The location and type of surgery also figures into your choices. Good luck!
Anything from general to spinal to peripheral block to local. Many options.
Depending on the extent of foot surgery, one could get through it with local/IV sedation, various nerve blocks/IV sedation, or general anesthesia.
For most foot surgeries, you can receive moderate-to-deep sedation with local anesthetic administration by your podiatrist. Other, more invasive surgeries may require a popliteal nerve block as well, or even general anesthesia for sensitive patients.
