If your back hurts more after a chiropractic treatment, please let your chiropractor know. You may need additional testing like x-rays or MRIs if they have not been done at this point. Other things you may consider could be are you tensing up during the treatment (this is sometimes sub-coconscious), or are you getting enough B vitamins, calcium, Vitamin D, and essential fatty acids in your diet?
Chiropractic treatment is a science and an art form and not everyone responds to every Chiropractor's treatment, try another Chiropractor. Also you may need diagnostic studies done. I can't answer any better without seeing you in person.
An adjustment is never supposed to hurt. The chiropractor may have had bad technique or an adjustment wasn't the right form of treatment for you at that time.
There are a lot of reasons why this could be happening. The main one could be that you aren’t fully relaxed when being adjusted. If you tense up your muscles it can cause them to spasm with an adjustment verses when you are completely relaxed it should cause tight muscles to relax around that joint and cause you to feel more relaxed posted adjustment.
This may be due to a number of factors. I recommend speaking with your Chiropractor about this directly.
The chiropractic adjustment takes the pressure off the nervous system, that's the goal. But why is there additional pressure on the nerves? The main cause is spinal misalignments that can be evaluated with a biomechanical x-ray analysis. Do you have DJD, DDD, disc pathology. These potential pathologies need to be determined to help understand why you have LBP and why you have increased LBP following your chiro treatment.
The muscles and the joints need to adapt to the changes after an adjustment and depending on your condition asking the chiropractor is the best way to get clarity on this situation.
