OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions C-Section (Cesarean Birth)

Is it normal to get back pain before periods after my C-section?

Ever since I had my c-section, I have been getting bad back pain just before my periods. Is this normal?

This may be normal and prodromal to onset of cycle. The prior c-section may not be implicated.
Yes, it is quite normal. I would apply heating pads or use Motrin for the pain.
Yes not uncommon due to stretching of the ligaments Try Gentle exercises at first. Swimming is a great exercise
It is not unusual to get back pain during menses how over have your doctor do pelvic exam rule out any other problems like endometriosis fibrosds or ovarian cysts
It can happen sometimes, not always.
It is not uncommon.
Quite common during the recovery period
There is no direct effect of C section and period pains.

There might be increased incidence of endometriosis in patients who had C sections. You need to be evaluated by your gynecologist and might need a diagnostic laparoscopy
Period patterns do change with age and after child birth. Also, after C-section, depending on how you heal , scar tissue could be formed during healing and that could lead to some changes. If your pain continues, birth control pills might help, see your OBGyn so that you can be examined and treated accordingly.

Take care!
If your back pain is due to your prégnancy or délivery big chance to dis appear in 6-12 month sur if it persiste the consulte an orthopedist
This can be normal due to scarring (adhesions) that form after surgery. Often times it will resolve over time but unfortunately can be a side effect of having abdominal surgery. Talk to your Obstetrician whom did the cesarean section about a possible ultrasound to look for ovarian cysts as well. Feel better
it may not be just be from having the C-section, with the menstrual cycle the lower back nerves innervate the uterus and this may be just from having the cycle.
the other reason for the back pain maybe muscular skeletal and you may need to just have some adjustment with a chiropractor after having your baby and due the pregnancy and the change in your posture during pregnancy. I would start there first.
Not normal
You need to discuss this with your ob/gyn
My dear, it is not normal to blame the caesarian section for the pain, if there are no related complications during the operation. I hope you understand this.
The cause of the period pains can be related to another pathology of the uterus. Back pain is part and parcel of period pains.

You can feel pain in your back that comes from the uterus because of the paths that certain nerves take. It probably isn't caused from your C-section but could be a change in your menstrual cycle over time. If it is very bothersome, see your gynecologist for an exam. There are many treatments for this type of pain.
