Ophthalmologist Questions Ophthalmologist

Can my son go to the eye doctor during covid-19?

My 12 year old son needs new glasses and his old glasses are blurry. Can my son go to the eye doctor during covid-19?

That is a great question. MDs as well as ophthalmologists have modified their clinic routines to minimize exposure to patients. The front office routines include pre registration and limited entry to the waiting room. Text messaging is used to grant access to the office. Most tests are performed by technicians who all wear maskings and PPE. In all cases, the patient is more than six feet from the caregiver. Many tests are automated and require no contact. The ophthalmologist can examine you with a clear barrier between you and him (her). The chairs and equipment are wiped down with sanitizer between patients as well as all personnel sanitizing between patient contact. Remember to mask and sanitize yourself throughout the day.

Yes. Follow the instructions of the office staff regarding masks and social distancing. SO
You should call ahead but many offices are open with masks required.

Absolutely. By now, nearly all eye docs are seeing clients with precautions in place. Safer than the grocery store.

Yes in some places but wear a mask and keep safe
Hello, depending on where you live, it is recommended that office visits are only for emergencies and routine eye care should be delayed until social distancing regulations are relaxed.
