YES!!
You are correct. Pain can radiate from a painful area in the lower jaw to the ear area. Such pain is likely to be from an infection of a tooth, or infection of the gum. If you do not have such an infection, it is unlikely your ear pain is from your wisdom tooth.

Another cause of ear pain can be from an overbite. This is when the lower front teeth bite up under the upper front teeth. The overbite forces the lower jaw up and backward. This can cause popping or other noises in the joint and other problems. The other problems can include: ear pain, painful chewing, headaches, migraines, ADHD, various sleep problems, and other things.

Another source of ear pain could be a problem in the ear itself. Hope this helps in your search for the source of your ear pain.

The jaw issues mentioned above are well covered in the book: GROWING A HEALTHY CHILD, SECRETS FROM A WISE OLD DOC. The book is available over the internet. The book gives you detailed information about an over closed bite and related joint issues. It also covers treatment options and prevention ideas.
Yes. Ear ache is called a referred pain. It is a "fake" pain caused by nerve connections in the jaw area. Nerve is called trigeminal part of the ear. It innervates the ear on the same side, upper and lower teeth and outer part of the eye on the same side. Pain is caused by infection in one area innervated by the trigeminal nerve.
Yes, wisdom teeth or teeth, in general, can cause ear pain due to a possible infection. If you are experiencing any pain, it is always best to schedule an appointment with your dentist and have them take a look to rule out if the ear pain is correlated to wisdom teeth or a general cold. If you don't have a dentist, we are happy to extend our services to help with your particular situation.
Yes, upper impacted 3rd molars (wisdom teeth) are closely positioned to the auditory structures. Any infection or inflammatory condition in that area can affect ear comfort and (or) hearing.
Hello,

Wisdom teeth can cause earache, headache, and other types of pain. The nerves that innervate the wisdom come from the brain.

It is not uncommon for pain related to the wisdom teeth to transfer the pain to nearby body parts like the ears.
The human mouth normally does not have room for 32 teeth, which includes the four wisdom teeth, so if wisdom teeth do come through, they may cause crowding, infections, ear pain, and swelling.
