Acne marks can be discolorations following healing of active acne or actual scars. Discolorations, such as post-inflammatory redness or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation typically takes weeks to months to fade, but the process can be accelerated with the appropriate use of topical at-home, prescription strength medications combined with a series of in-office chemical peels.
It usually takes 1-6 months for the red of an acne mark to go away.
This is a very good bit difficult question to answer. Lots of factors come in to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, including skin color, environment-lots of sun exposure versus not so much sun exposure. Places where there are lots of sun, Will probably have the spots last a little bit longer as well as darker skin colors.
