How long will I need off work after a laparoscopy?

I am a 50 year old female. I had an injury at work and may have internal bleeding. I want to know how long will I need off work after a laparoscopy?

Normally 4-8 weeks.
The return to work is based on the specific type of surgery. Appendectomy done on patients allows them to return to work in 2 days. Gallbladder surgery patients can usually return to light duty in 5-7 days.
That all depends on what type of laparoscopic surgery you are going to have and what type of work you do. Typically, patients are home to recover for 1-2 weeks and may return to work subsequently with work restrictions per your surgeon (4-6 weeks). Best to ask to your surgeon for specifics of your limitations after surgery.
Your company medical examiner should follow the state occupational medicine protocol to permit your being back to work. Of course, you’d give him all the medical history including the bleeding event.
Best of luck.
Hi! Thanks for your question. It really depends on the procedure and what you do for work. If you have the opportunity to do light duty then your cab return earlier. I would say anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks. Thanks again.
