Congratulations on your decision, and great question. There are many factors involved. I would recommend you make an appointment with your Ob/GYN to discuss the recommendations in preparing for this wonderful event. I would recommend you begin taking a Prenatal Vitamin if you are not currently on one.

Ideally, you want to start prenatal vitamins 3 months prior to conceiving. if you have any underlying long-term medical conditions such as diabetes or hypertension, you would want those under control as well.

Diet and exercise. A good diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. You may add a prenatal vitamin. If you exercise regularly then continue. If your a non exerciser then start. You don't have to knock yourself out. It has been shown that walking 15-20 minutes three to four times a week can improve your fitness. Finally, avoid tobacco, alcohol and drugs.
