Cardiologist Questions Protein shakes

Can protein powders cause a strain on the heart?

I am a 39-year-old man and I'm into body building. I have been using protein powders to enhance my muscle growth. Could this put a strain on my heart?

It depends on what’s in the powder and your metabolism. Be careful.
Animal protein can be inflammatory and simply put is more difficult for kidney tubules to filter. The question is, what do you mean by strain? In someone with normal kidneys, 100 grams of protein daily is adequate and not harmful if creatinine is normal. Vegan protein becomes a better choice with diabetes or renal disease. The heart sits idle in this argument.
Not necessary
Steroids are usually associated with heart failure in athletes and not protein. However, too much protein can be bad if you have kidney disease.
