Pediatrician Questions Stuffy nose

Is it safe to frequently use nasal drips for children?

My son often has a stuffy nose while sleeping. We've been treating it with nasal drips but this has been quite often. Are these safe for children for a long period of time?

It is safe to use saline nose drops as often as you like. If the nasal drip contains ephedrine you can get rebound congestion. This should not be used more than 3-4 days in a row. OTC steroid nose drops can be used daily and help open the nose. Also propping the head up helps drainage.
If by nasal drips you mean decongestant nasal sprays — frequent use can injure the lining of your nose!
Discuss with a pediatrician. It might be allergies or sinus problems.
It is all right as a temporary solution, but it needs to be evaluated. The child has to be primarily evaluated by an ENT and then by an allergy and immunology specialist, if necessary.
