“My sister's baby has been admitted in the NICU because of shortness of breath. Is this normal for newborns?”
My sister delivered her baby yesterday, and she has been admitted in the NICU for shortness of breath. We are very worried. Is this normal for newborns?

About 10%-15% of babies have breathing problems, sometimes mild, and other times more serious. It depends on the specific condition.
Very very common. The second most common diagnosis for admission behind hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. Usually it is just retained fetal long fluid which could take a couple days to get them sort before symptoms get better.
