“What are the best creams for toenail fungus?”
I'm 37, and I believe I have a toenail fungus on my big toe. What are the best creams for toenail fungus?

Depends on the organism (fungus) growing. seek consult with podiatrist and maybe a nail clipping biopsy can be done for full and definitive answer you are looking for.
There are several causes for a thick, discolored toenail. A fungus is the toenail is most common, but is not the only cause. Examination is recommend to determine the cause and also the best treatment options.
Most of your over the counter creams will only be 8-10% effective for toenail fungus. But if you want can either try vicks vaporub or tea tree oil for this. The best treatment is the pill Lamisil for this and it is effective and is safe to take.
There are many different treatment options for her fungal toenails which include topical medications, oral medications and laser therapy.

First, make sure it is a fungus. Many thick dystrophic nails can be caused by factors. A podiatrist would be able to help, or a dermatologist if you so desired.

If you have a fungus in your toenails, good OTC creams include lotrimin, lamisil and miconazole. You need to treat daily for a year. If you see no improvement in 3 months, you should go to your podiatrist to have the nails checked to be sure there is a fungus.

There are no best creams. You need to have an evaluation by a podiatrist. Different creams will work on different patient differently
What species of fungus do you believe you have? You actually need a diagnosis you may not have nail fungus. also creams generally lack effectiveness on toenail fungus.
Creams won’t work on toenail fungus. Only in athlete’s foot- which is a fungal skin infection. Oral Lamisil works but you need blood tests and an Rx. Rx Jublia works but it takes a year and the copay is ridiculous even with insurancecoverage. What I give my patients is Formula 3 and Formula 7- it works well, is inexpensive, but is only available through your local podiatrist
I’ve been using them for quite awhile with very good results. They also come with a money-back guarantee - which none of the other treatments do. Laser doesn’t work frequently and is expensive
Vicks, tea tree oil, duct tape and various other Facebook remedies are worthless

Most topical creams and solutions for toenail fungus are not very effective. The most effective is oral medication.

There are no otc creams that are effective. There are prescription topicals, laser and oral terbinafine to treat toenail fungus. You should see your podiatrist to determine whether you have fungus and find out which treatment is right for you. It is important not to wait because it can become harder to treat effectively.
Hello,
Over the counter creams don't usually work for toe nail fungus. The best option is oral antifungal therapy in the form of a pill for 12 weeks. See your primary care doctor.

When treating toenail fungus, I tell my patients, no matter the cream or nail gel you choose to use or apply, the key is to be patient and stay the course. it takes about 6-9 months (even a year) for toe nail fungus to clear away. Most important is the life style changes. No more walking barefoot, always wear clean socks (buy new socks, those old socks are already infected with fungus), spray shoe with Lysol or any fungal spray. If all that fails, then we can remove the nail entirely and let a new nail grow back. I also recommend taking a biopsy of the nail and we can also consider oral antifungal treatment.
I would say almost all over-the-counter medications are generally not helpful. Visit your doctor to get a prescription strength topical or oral medication. Julia is one of the best topical medications.
Per studies, only oral medications will really help you (with success rates over 80%). Any creams, ointments or lacquers will only work at best 15-20% of the time with daily usage for a minimum of 365 days. With this being said, lamisil is a good cream for fungus.
Toenail fungus is best treated with solutions instead of creams. You can try topicals from over the counter. You should apply it 2x/day and should be for a duration of at least 6-8 months depending on the extent of the infection.
Tolcylen line of anti-fungal products are the most effective to date, as they have a synergistic combination of medications, and low molecular weight formulation which allows for penetration of the affected area of nail.
Most topical treatments for toenail fungus have limited benefit. I recommend you be evaluated by a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) to determine cause of the problem and the available treatment options
Creams and topical remedies do not usually work well for toenail fungus. You can try many types of liquid over the counter medications, like 'funginail,' or you can go to a Podiatry office and buy 'Formula 3,' which has a money back guarantee. But if you use topical antifungals, you are looking at about 9 months to 2-3 years of application of the medication, usually with no results. The best way to treat toenail fungus is with oral antifungals prescribed by your Podiatrist.
