The umbilical cord can be unwrapped from the neck easily in most cases but may be difficult depending on how tight it is.
It is always best to seek obstetrical care and monitor fetal heart rate and wellbeing, and to consider the severity of the situation with your obstetrician and decide on the best option accordingly.
Many babies are born with the umbilical cord wrapped around their neck and there is nothing a doctor can do to prevent that from happening. Fortunately, it does not have a significant risk to the baby. The doctor will reduce the cord during the delivery.
