“What kind of anesthesia is used for discectomy?”
I need to have a discectomy, but my doctor didn't tell me much about the procedure and the anesthesia that's going to be used. Probably because it's not scheduled for a while now. What kind of anesthesia is used for a discectomy?

Spine surgery is usually performed in prone position (face down) under general anesthesia.
General anesthesia is always used for s discetomy as the patient will need to be paralyzed for the procedure as well as need to lay in the prone position.
Usually we use General Anesthesia with an endotracheal tube for laminectomies and Discectomies.
