yes, acupuncture can treat stomach pain .
You should feel better
From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, it would take 3 to 6 months to treat severe stomach pains (e.g. IBS, Gastroparesis, etc.). I would use the modalities of acupuncture, herbs, and sometimes massage, 2-3 times a week.
Hopefully your practitioner can figure out what is going on and help you with herbal medicine and acupuncture treatments.
To ascertain the cause of chronic pain requires a careful history and physical exam. Testing often comes up empty in GI and other fields of medicine. Sometimes the history done is perfunctory and superficial, which will lead to the diagnosis being missed and negative testing.
Get another opinion from a GI doc who will take the time to perform a detailed history.
Everyone is different, so I can't tell you what to expect. I would suggest, however, that you stop eating gluten as that is the leading cause of digestive problems that I have seen, including the ones you describe. Doctors don't think about food as a cause of problems, so they don't bring it up.
I would expect some relief or changes in my symptoms by the 4th treatment or I would try a different practitioner... we are not all created equal.

Acupuncture can be very helpful. You should expect a full physical evaluation, dietary evaluation, and possibly more tests that we may want to run to rule out more differential diagnosis. We may also evaluate past emotional trauma to get a full picture of what could be going on. You can expect to have your own personal detective working on your case whose goal is not only to diagnose you but to improve your quality of life with holistic medicine.
Hello & thank you for your question! Often times, when all of the physical tests show no obvious cause, the concern is due to an energetic imbalance. Due to the chronicity of your stomach pain, you will probably need 8-12 treatments to notice more substantial changes, though you should notice minor improvements along the way. With acupuncture, we are activating your body's healing mechanisms, as the body naturally wants to heal itself and bring the body into balance or homeostasis. Acupuncture gives the body additional energy and resources to allow for proper function, thereby alleviating symptoms that you may have.
Hello. Since this is a chronic issue, it might take several acupuncture sessions to start to see any changes. It also depends on where the stomach pain is coming from- that is where the acupuncturist would make a proper diagnosis in order to come up with a proper treatment protocol.
Hello! For your chronic condition and depending on your current health, expect 3-6 months of treatment before experiencing any long-term effects of acupuncture.
I would expect for you to see some immediate results that may not last so long at first but as you continue with treatment on a regular basis, it should improve
First, I would recommend patience. Though acupuncture can be very effective in relieving your condition (even though the western medical cause is unknown), it takes time to work. The longer a condition has been in existence the longer it will take to resolve. That being said, if you're not feeling any changes throughout your body within 5-8 treatments, I would recommend trying a new practitioner or a new style of acupuncture.

Secondly, you might find that you will feel better after treatments, but after some time the effects wear off. This is normal and actually a good sign that you're on the road to healing. Acupuncture has a cumulative effect and those results will last longer and longer with each treatment so stay regular with your treatment schedule.

Thirdly, prepare for dietary changes and stick to them. Your acupuncturist may start you on an herbal regiment or suggest adding or eliminating certain foods. I suggest keeping a detailed food journal through this process. They're extremely helpful in tracking your symptoms in relation to the foods, times, and amounts you eat, and in relation to your treatments. I will also note that Chinese dietary theory is simple to understand but different from western dietary theory. Don't be afraid to ask questions or for explanations!

Lastly, it's possible you may experience a healing crisis, meaning your condition may worsen before it improves (more specifically you may find changes in your bowel movements and/or urination). It is also a sign of healing so have patience but be very verbal with your acupuncturist. Explain any changes in symptoms (even if they're not related to your digestion or stomach pain) so they can better guide and support you through your healing.
Without knowing your entire presentation and being able to feel your pulses, it's hard to say. Chinese medicine is highly individualized and there may be other issues/symptoms you're experiencing that, to a conventional doctor, may not be related, but to someone who practices Chinese medicine could be decisive in terms of diagnosis.

Speaking generally, Chinese medicine tends to excel in those cases where conventional medicine is unable to make a concrete diagnosis. We're using a different explanatory model which often allows us to grasp the root cause of the problem.

In terms of expectations, I'd think that by your 3rd or 4th treatment you should be noticing a change in your condition - probably decreased pain/discomfort and possibly increased GI motility. After a course of therapy (8-10 treatments), you should definitely notice a change in your situation. Possibly a remission of symptoms, but a definite increase in your quality of life.
Nervousness possibly.
Expect to get treatments often when you start and maintain a good regimen.
Acupuncture can heal the stomach pain, but first of all, your acupuncturist should find out what and how caused you get stomach pain ?
