This though is a rare occurrence. There are 2 types of gum tissue-attached and unattached (alveolar mucosa.)As long as you have enough attached, you should be fine.

I personally have front crowns that were placed 40 years ago. Obviously just as a natural tooth can break, a crown could also break. The porcelain used on esthetic crowns is vey durable.
