Liposuction is the permanent removal of fat cells. It is a wonderful procedure to correct a double chin or fullness along the jawline in the younger patient with good skin tone. Men can often have this procedure even later in life due to the thicker male skin. Patients who have loose skin, as well as fullness, may be a better candidates for a Facelift. In upper Eyelid Surgery, I mark the individual lines and creases of the lids to keep the scars as invisible as possible along these natural folds. The incision is made, and excess fat, muscle, and loose skin are removed. Fine sutures are used to close the incisions, thereby minimizing the visibility of any scar. In lower Eyelid Surgery, I make the incision in an inconspicuous site along the lash line and smile creases of the lower lid. Excess fat, muscle, and skin are then trimmed away before the incision is closed with fine sutures. Eyelid puffiness caused primarily by excess fat may be corrected by a Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty. The incision in this case is made inside the lower eyelid, and excess fatty material is removed. When sutures are used to close this kind of incision, they are invisible to the eye. They are also self-dissolving and leave no visible scar. Under normal conditions, Blepharoplasty will take one hour. Patients with a deep groove under the eye may have Eyelid fat transferred to soften this depression.

Rhinoplasty, also known as nose reshaping surgery, is a procedure that modifies the size, shape, and proportions of the nose. When planned and performed by a trained and skilled facial plastic surgeon rhinoplasty can not only improve the appearance of the nose but also enhance facial harmony. Rhinoplasty can also be performed to address breathing or other functional problems caused by structural deformities. If you have any of these concerns, then it might be worth it for you.

Following rhinoplasty, patients may initially experience swelling, bruising and minor discomfort. This is normal, and discomfort can be easily managed with prescription oral medication. Patients generally plan on taking one week off from work and other normal activities. During this time, it is important to rest as much as possible with the head elevated. We schedule several follow-up appointments to remove the outer splint. I do not use nasal packing on the inside of the nose. Instead, I use dissolvable sutures to the meltaway.

I provide detailed aftercare instructions that are very important to follow post-surgery, such as avoiding strenuous activity, applying cold compresses, and keeping the head elevated to minimize swelling. Recovery times vary from patient to patient; however, many are able to return to work or go out in public after one to two weeks. It is a very personal decision and the time frame does vary from patient to patient.

Otoplasty is performed as an outpatient procedure. I typically recommend using general anesthesia. General, local or twilight sedation may be used for older patients. During the procedure, I will create an incision behind the ear, in the natural crease where the ear meets the head. Scarring is usually well concealed. To resize overly large ears, I will remove cartilage and skin as needed. I may also reshape the cartilage to improve the shape of the ears. For protruding ears, I will reshape the cartilage then secure it using permanent sutures. Once I am done making all of the agreed-upon modifications, I will close the incisions with dissolvable sutures.

Yes, the jawline can be more defined either surgically or non-surgically. A strong jawline adds definition to your facial contour, balances other facial features, and commands attention. Yes, it can help with acne scars. Tretinoin is the generic name for RetinA, RetinA micro, Avite, Atralin, or Renova. It is the second most important skincare product for most of us that we can apply to our skin. Sun protection is number one. Many people are familiar with tretinoin for the treatment of acne in younger patients. It requires a prescription and is never sold over the counter. Products containing retinol are not the same as products containing tretinoin. Retinol is the precursor to tretinoin. When applied to the skin, a portion is converted by the enzymes in the skin to tretinoin. The retinol products can be used as a first-line treatment for those who are sensitive to tretinoin.

Yes. This type of rhinoplasty is called functional/corrective rhinoplasty. It addresses structural problems caused by genetics or trauma.

Accutane, Retin A, Dermal Fillers, Punch Grafts, Wplasty, Geometric Broken Line, and Zplasty Scar Revisions, Wire Brush Dermabrasion, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Laser, and Collagen Induction Treatments (micro-needling with PRP) are all examples of treatments used for Acne scarring.

It’s recommended that patients don’t participate in any kind of strenuous exertions such as exercising or laughing too hard the following septoplasty. Excessive excitement, talking, and physical actions like too much walking or physically straining themselves in any way are discouraged as well. Both antibiotics and pain medications should be taken by the patient as prescribed. In most cases, patients will usually recover and fully heal in about a week or so following the surgery.
