Depends on how many acupuncture treatments you get. Usually, when I see a patient 1 time only, it lasts a couple of days. If I have seen them for 4-6 weeks, can last months. Asian medicine creates a space of balance where healing occurs naturally, often at a faster pace than without. That balance can last for shorter and longer periods depending on how much the patient's lifestyle is creating imbalance. So it varies by individual.

I have no idea. But we do practice nutritional counseling and herbal medicine which might help clean arteries... but a blocked one? You should see a doctor.

I utilize a tradition of acupuncture where we treat pain far from where the pain is located. Most points I would use would be from elbows to fingers and knees to toes. But each practitioner's training can vary.

You should never stop taking prescribed medicines without consulting with the doctor that prescribed those medicines. Giving you advice on medications is outside my scope of practice. What I can tell you is that Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) is blood thinning and good for you... but not unless your doctor says so.

When people ask me about acupressure, my first thought is that they are asking me if an inadequately trained person who read a few books about acupuncture points (or they have procured a book and intend to self-treat) is going to be successful. My thought is... I doubt it. I studied this medicine in college for three years, including 700 hours of treating patients under supervision. It was difficult to learn... and complicated. That level of understanding is beyond self-taught from a book, in my opinion. So, not knowing anything about who is treating you (or their level of expertise/understanding of this complex medical system), I am afraid I can not give you much of an answer.

My advice is to find a fully trained acupuncturist who has gone to an acupuncture school and completed a program, or who learned through a long apprenticeship and has decades of experience. Otherwise, you are just having people poke you in areas who are not fully understanding what they are doing. I doubt this would HARM you, but I am super skeptical that it
would be much benefit other than possible temporary symptom relieve... and hormonal imbalances are complicated, systemic issues.

After reading it, it has given me some ideas for treatment and I suspect acupuncture could very well be helpful. Make sure to find a fully trained acupuncturist who has a degree from an acupuncture school. Plenty of inadequately trained people out there are legally allowed to call themselves acupuncturists with minimal training (chiropractors and doctors) as well as physical therapists performing "dry needling," which is not at all acupuncture.

When I hear someone ask me about acupressure, I imagine they are talking about someone who has read a book on acupressure performing some point pushing without full knowledge of Chinese medicine. This has little to do with Chinese medicine... If instead, my presumptions are wrong, then this being performed by a FULLY TRAINED practitioner of Chinese medicine, then yes, it is likely to help you. But you have given me next to nothing to work with here with your extremely vague question.

You should ask your practitioner. Situations and people vary. Our medicine is customized to the individual.

That really depends on the practitioner. I personally spend 2-3 hours with a new patient. The treatment (insertion of needles) takes about one hour, with about 25 minutes of relaxing while the needles are inserted. A follow-up treatment usually lasts an hour for me. But this varies from practitioner to practitioner.

It is not ideal to move during acupuncture (while the needles are inserted), especially if the muscles that flew have needles through them. Patients move though... and I have never lost a patient yet. Often, it just causes added discomfort as the needles are very thin and bend easily. A crooked needle doesn't come out as easily.

I do not know enough about this topic to speak with any authority. I know the industry lasers sold to us are very expensive and must be very specific frequencies of light. But that is all I really know.

Are you getting acupressure from someone fully trained in East Asian medicine, or some massage therapist that read a book? Or some friend who read a book about points? If it is the latter options, then you aren't doing acupressure.... so I couldn't gauge or even surmise how long it will work for someone poking you or you poking yourself will "work." It likely won't "work." Find a professional fully trained in the medicine.

Acupressure is an effective technology to improve health if practiced by someone who understands this medicine. I only use it on animals (my own) and children who I do not wish to use needles on. Diseases are a western medical concept and these are different systems of healing that do not entirely fit with each other, as one sees the body as having parts and chemicals and acknowledges little else fully, and our system sees the body as a reflection of an unseen energy field... like trying to put a round peg in a square hole! Have I seen diseases go away, become "asymptomatic," or doctor's declare that the patient must have been misdiagnosed (because no signs of disease remains)? Yes. Many times. But make sure you find a FULLY TRAINED practitioner who isn't an acupuncturist and doctor/chiropractor who got their license from a weekend seminar of training... I would not let any of those inadequately trained people near me! :-)

There are hundreds of points on the body and over 50 on the stomach channel, around thirty on the spleen channel, its paired elemental organ, and several points that access the stomach via other systems/channels. So, this question is impossible to answer with so little detail. I would recommend a shiatsu book for you to explore this.

What kind of issues? Acupuncture fails more often than not because the practitioner either is not really trained in acupuncture (doctors, chiropractors and physical therapists) who have tremendous lobbying power to allow them into our field with inadequate training. Or the patient doesn't show up enough. So, find a fully trained acupuncturist... ask questions about their education. If not, you aren't really trying acupuncture and you are just letting someone clueless poke you with needles.

There are many schools that teach this medicine. That is where this question would be answered. The energy is a system... the right point is based on identifying your imbalance, and then selecting the best points to remedy that... so you didn't even tell me if it was low or upper or mid-back pain.... too vague. Most importantly, find a professional who is fully trained in acupuncture... many states allow chiropractors, doctors, and heck, even physical therapists to put needles in people and call themselves acupuncturists... I wouldn't let any of those people near me. Ask questions.
