Felipe Peterson, DPM was born in Brazil and moved to the United States with his family as a young boy. Maintaining strong ties to his family and culture while pursuing his education in the U.S. afforded him the opportunity to become fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish, which helps him better serve diverse patient populations. He is an active member of local churches and the communities in which he lives and works, and he currently serves as the team Podiatrist for the Hillsborough Community College baseball team.
Felipe completed his B.S. in biology from a rigorous premedical track at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, where he also acquired experience in pharmacy. He then earned his DPM from Barry University in Miami, where he not only excelled academically, but also spearheaded numerous community service campaigns and held multiple student leadership roles, including Treasurer for both the Florida Podiatric Medical Student Association and the Hispanic Podiatric Medical Student Association, as well as Podiatry Student Ambassador. For his many community service efforts while at Barry, he was recognized and awarded the Barron Bagget Community Scholarship
Felipe began his residency Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, where he received intense training in Internal Medicine general and vascular surgery. He also gained valuable experience in intense and critical diabetic limb salvage. He went on to complete his residency in Larkin Palm Springs Hospital in Hialeah, Florida, where he acquired beneficial experience with trauma related surgery, reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery, and total joint replacements. While completing his residency, he was a guest lecturer for Palm Springs Hospital on several occasions, presenting on complicated topics such as Charcot arthropathy, diabetic foot ulcers, and fungal infections of the lower extremity. In addition, he served as a board member for the Miami Dade Podiatric Medical Association and a Young Physician Liaison for Miami Dade County, as well as raised awareness and funds for the American Diabetic Association.
Since 2015, Felipe has been sharpening his clinical skills under the tutelage of Dr. Kyle Kinmon, one of the greatest foot and ankle surgeons in South Florida. He is not only a well-rounded physician, but also a brother, a husband, and a father to two puppies and one baby boy! Ice stretch and use of very supportive shoes

No but it can cause stiffness and sedentary can worsen circulation

Yes, adding topical voltaren gel can help too

What should I do my big toe nail is about to fall off
You can do epsom salt foot soaks and apply antibiotic ointment until it falls off on its own, but you may want to get an X-ray and make sure you didn't break the toe.
