Is stroke genetically inherited?

My grandmother has a stroke last month. I wonder if stroke is genetically inherited?

The things that will increase your risk of stroke: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and adult-onset diabetes all have a genetic tendency. But all of them are treatable or preventable. Stroke is not directly inherited. It is indirectly genetic, in that the risk factors have a genetic component.
Strokes per se are not genetically inherited. However, certain conditions that might lead to stroke can be hypertension, diabetes, atherosclerosis,  high cholesterol, and cardiac arrhythmias. Hope that answers your question. Dr. F.
