Massage can help break up those muscle knots that prevent the neck's normal range of motion, but being evaluated by a chiropractor would help you correct the restriction and maintain the curvature of the neck.
Depends upon the reason for the neck pain. Massages are temporary but Chiropractic can correct the problem.
You should always find out the cause of the pain before opting in for any form of massgae, therapy or treatment. If the cause is due to tight muscles then a massage might help. If the pain is due to a non-muscular cause, it might not help. It's always safer to know the diagnosis before moving forward with treatment. I would recommend seeing the primary doctor first and see if an Xray is needed first. Hope this helps.
Depending on what is the root cause of your neck pain, a massage could help. If the quality of your pain is stinging, shooting or stabbing the cause could be more structural which in that cause chiropractic adjustments would be recommended. If the quality of your pain is dull, achy, tight or stiffness trying a massage may be the best course of action.
