I am a 29 year old male. I want to know if push-ups are bad for shoulder impingement?

It is best to rest your shoulder. You do not want to aggravate it or cause further impingement with activity.
Great question. First, you need to uncover why you have shoulder impingement? Is it coming from your neck and your shoulder or just your neck or just your shoulder. Is your posture contributing to your impingement? Push up may contribute to increased pain associated with impingement, but I would recommend what factors are causing your impingement and then correcting them, so you don't have to worry about exercising.
In fact, a carefully executed pushup, with an eye to managing good shoulder blade mechanics can be a great rehabilitative exercise. A pushup can help you to retrain motor control (brain control of the muscles in a movement) and strength of the muscles that will stabilize the shoulder blade.
Push ups are usually aggravating to shoulder impingement. A good idea is to focus on strengthening the back and rotator cuff, while stretching the chest and biceps.
