Typically yes. Some forms of that surgery can be done safely on an outpatient basis where you would do the surgery in the hospital, but go home the same day. READ MORE

Often, with the way we do that surgery today, you shouldn't need to be wired shut at all. If so, it should be for a very short period of time. They should review that with you at your pre=op appointment. READ MORE

It is more likely an ulceration from infection around the tooth. It may not be able to erupt completely, and should be evaluated to see if it needs removal. READ MORE

Can a dental implant fall out?
It is either the crown, or tooth part, that is loose or the implant itself. If the crown is loose, it needs to be tightened back down. If the implant itself is loose, unfortunately, it will need to be removed. READ MORE

You should be careful over the first week or so, then be able to advance back to normal function. READ MORE
Is it possible to lose feeling in face after extraction?
That is a risk of the surgery, and depends on how close the lower teeth are to the nerve within the jaw. They should be able to show you this on your xray. The area of feeling of concern would be from the corner of the mouth to the midline on lower lip and chin, and has a small risk of being permanent. READ MORE
What is the best pain relief after tooth extraction?
Follow all of your post op instructions carefully. Start with pain meds while still numb. Alternate between NSAID (like Motrin) and tylenol, using narcotic pain meds only as needed. READ MORE
Do I need to go back to dentist after wisdom tooth removal?
Yes, they should typically take a look about a week after the surgery to ensure there are no complications. This should be a very quick visit. READ MORE
Do they use jaw surgery to fix a broken jaw?
He should have a board certified OMFS treat his fractures. The most conservative treatment would be wiring his teeth together for 6 weeks, but sometimes surgery is necessary with placement of bone plates and/or screws to stabilize the fracture. READ MORE

They are a preventative med to avoid a post operative infection. It is YOUR choice if you prefer to risk a complication and avoid taking a med unless it occurs. READ MORE

Can I have surgery to fix TMJ?
Typically, you would undergo non-surgical management first since that has a high likelihood of resolving the symptoms. Only if that failed (unless a VERY unusual diagnosis) would you then explore surgical options. READ MORE
Do doctors put patients to sleep for oral surgeries?
Yes, although a local anesthesia may still be an option for patients that would rather NOT be put to sleep. You should discuss this with your surgeon at your consult after reviewing how extensive (or not) your surgery will be. READ MORE
