What I tell my patients is that the aging process happens because of loss of collagen and elastin. A facelift does not rebuild collagen or elastin over any area that has not be elevated. Therefore, to maintain your results you need to continue to build up collagen and elastin in your skin. This is a multiprong approach that starts with skin care, routine light or medium peels and lasers and other tightening procedures performed every year or every other year. I also have my patients do an in home laser treatment daily to combat the effects of aging. With this regimen, I have had significant success in maintaining my facelift results for years to come.
