Anything less would be you not really trying this system of healing. Find a fully trained professional in Chinese medicine, possessing a master's degree AND 5+ years experience in this field. Medical Doctors, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, and even Physical Therapists (dry needling) are able to do what looks like acupuncture (but isn't) with a couple weekends of training or less. I would NOT let any of these inadequately trained people NEAR ME. :-)

I cannot speak to this with authority as I have only treated one patient with it long term... and the patient I had experience with had had multiple surgeries and infection that had extended into his bones. Theoretically, it couldn't hurt unless applied to infected tissue and then spread infection and it should help. But diabetes requires dietary and lifestyle changes along with any effective therapy.

Stimulating the points used in acupuncture and acupressure is in effect telling the Qi/Life Force/Energy to move. When you move energy, this takes energy... yet when done by a skilled and highly trained practitioner, this movement is to create balance, or greater balance, and thus the movement creates a state where more energy is being created by the Body-Mind-Spirit system. If the acupressure is not being used to create balance and just for symptom relief as most use it who don't fully understand the medicine, it could, theoretically at least, be causing further weakness of the system due to these concepts, at least in my theoretical understanding of this. Are you feeling tired and drained?

Acupressure is just a different way to stimulate the Qi/Life Force/Energy using manual pressure instead of needles (acupuncture). I prefer to use magnets on points (as the stimulation lasts longer) using 800 gauss magnets on stickers, personally. These different forms of stimulation of the Qi require a practitioner who can identify what the imbalance is, which leads to a prescription of how to stimulate the Qi back to a state of balance. If that is missing, I personally would not put much faith in a practitioner... and way too many who "practice acupressure" learned a bit from a book or weekend seminar and lack this depth of understanding of the medicine. There are points that move energy in parts of the head the can relieve symptoms, yet this is not really the full effectiveness of this ancient, magical East Asian system of healing that you could experience seeing a fully trained practitioner. I have only ever treated one patient whose headaches I could not seem to get to go away... and that patient had spinal misalignments and massive childhood trauma and abuse and was quite unique. With the help of a chiropractor, she was able to find relief. The rest of my patients responded rather fast to acupuncture and their symptoms would disappear for months or years at a time, depending on the individual.

Ok... let's first assume you have a fully trained acupressure practitioner who is capable of accurately diagnosing you.... because that is the first necessary step. Second, I'm assuming you have someone fully trained in point prescriptions to accurately develop a treatment plan to balance your energy. Finally, if all those conditions are met, then the response depends on how strong your Body-Mind-Spirit system is. Is this a chronic disease/set of symptoms that we are discussing? Generally, the longer you have been out of balance, there longer it will take to get a positive response.

Second, and again depending on all the conditions previously explained being met by the practitioner's skill levels, how strong is the patient's constitution? Were they sick as a child? Did they have developmental issues growing as a child? Was their mother sick during gestation/pregnancy? How old is the patient (our energy tends to get weaker as we age)?

Acupressure doesn't add energy to the system... it moves energy... and in moving energy, movement takes energy so in effect it is just slightly draining on the energy. If that movement is applied with precision to put the system in greater balance, then the system is able to generate new energy better and it has a healing effect. If not, it may still possibly relieve some symptom(s) yet have a net effect of weakening the system.

Hope that was helpful.
