There is no single answer to success rates of any medication on an individual basis and your question is too vague to honestly answer it.

When it comes to pain management, though, acupuncture has been shown to be more effective than medications and has little to no side effects. So, I generally advise acu over meds for daily pains, headaches, muscle aches and the like.

Often sciatica diagnoses are really just a muscular issue which results in sciatic pain as a secondary effect.

As a muscular issue or even as a sciatic nerve issue acupuncture has tremendous results in relieving the issue. Be sure to find a licensed acupuncturist in your area and consult with them about your specific condition.

Acupuncture can be an effective tool in managing pain from this condition and can help regulate body functions that may help improve your condition. There is no single answer to this question because people have varying degrees of injury or issue and have varying degrees of response to treatments. It could clear up in one treatment or take days or months or years. No one can guarantee you any results in any medical practice.

Do keep talking with your practitioner about the progress, how long things stay well or how quickly they return and at what levels (less pain long term, less time with no pain, lower range of pain scale etc). Then the practitioner can help treat you progressively.

It really depends on your body's reaction to the treatment. I have had patients who have had the results last for months or years, others where the results lasted hours or days. There is no guarantee how a body will react or what any individual results will be with any medical practice.

It all depends on how you feel after a treatment. The treatment is re-establishing your body's natural energy cycles and you biological systems, so if you feel hungry after then eat, if tired, rest; if active then get some chores done or do some work.

Everyone responds differently with acupuncture and it can be different each time, so it is always best to follow how your body responds. Your practitioner may have additional advice for you specifically, so ask them directly if they have any specific advice for your situation.

I have treated a variety of arthritic disorders with acupuncture and herbs. Pretty much any Licensed Acupuncturist will be able to help you the same way. Find a licensed acupuncturist in your area that you feel comfortable with and remember that you can always go find another if you don't like your first choice, but any well trained acupuncturist should be able to help you. Do not go to a DC or a PT or someone who "does acupuncture too" go to a well trained L.Ac.

It is very helpful for arthritic pains of all sorts. I have treated hand, feet, shoulder and knee arthritis problems with great success.

You would need to find a licensed practitioner - not a DC or PT who "does acupuncture too". Find a Licensed Acupuncturist in your area - pretty much any one of them will be helpful for you, so find one that you feel comfortable with. You can always move to a different one if you don't like your first choice, but again, pretty much any trained L.Ac. can be very helpful to you.

That depends on how you feel after the treatment. Not everyone has the same response to treatments. So, if you feel tired after the treatment, you should rest. If you feel hungry after the treatment, you should eat. If you feel energized, maybe you can start to organize your day or clean or get other chores done or exercise.

I cannot tell you how to act after a treatment, until you know how you respond to treatments and it isn't always going to be the same each time.

Sometimes it works as soon as the needle is put in, sometimes it takes a bit of manipulation of the needle, sometimes it takes the whole session, sometimes it takes a series of sessions. There is no single answer to your question because it is based on an individual response and to which condition is actually being treated.

Yes it can and it has for many of my patients. Sometimes it only takes one needle, sometimes it takes a bit more and it can last for a long time or take a long time to complete depending on the person and situation.

There is a treatment protocol that helps eliminate allergies, I have personally treated people who had shellfish and nut allergies as well as dairy and grain allergies. If it is truly an allergy you should find someone who is familiar with NAET or who has had success with allergies and you can take care of it fairly quickly.

Be sure to find a licensed acupuncturist that you feel comfortable with - there are a few to choose so call around like you would a hair stylist or other professional.

First, yes, your neck is safe for acupuncture needling - there are many points on the next and professional acupuncturists are trained in anatomy and physiology and know where to needle and where to not needle for your safety.

Second, just because the pain is IN he neck does not mean that the needles will GO into the neck. Sometimes the treatments are local (near area being treated) and sometimes they are distal (away from area being treated). So, there's really no worry either way.

When performed by a licensed professional, the side-effects of acupuncture are nil. There's maybe a pinching feeling in the area of needling or some itchy or soreness after the needling, but it's much less a feeling than, say, when you get a shot for a vaccine or a blood draw.

The most common side-effect, really, is a sense of relaxation and a better sense of wellness. But, of course, sometimes theres a tingling sensation while being needled or a jump in the muscle, etc. None of this is dangerous or permanent. There are times when a small drop of blood may come out when needle is removed, but that too is easily rectified by holding a cotton ball to it - similar to after a blood draw, but again, much less intense.

Serious side effects only usually occur from great negligence or from severely untrained people, which is why the acupuncture community does not like when Physical Therapists do a technique they call "dry needling" or when Chiropractors take a few courses and call themselves "acupuncturists" without full training that a Licensed Acupuncturist received.

So, be sure your practitioner is a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) not a PT doing needling and not a Chiro who "also does acupuncture" and you will be in good hands.

No one can answer that question honestly. Some people get relief with one needle in one session, some people get temporary relief in one session but then it returns a few days later, some people need more, some less. I have even treated a person where our conversation alone helped them lose the headache (it was an emotionally rooted headache).

When you see your practitioner, they will have a more reliable answer because they will know the nature of the root cause of your situation. Most people do leave with the pain dramatically reduced if not removed, but it is also a matter of how often you normally get HA's vs how that can be reduced with treatments.

Acupuncture can help regeneration of body tissues, nerves take a bit longer but with consistent work you can get them to work again. Depending, of course, on your particular situation. So, go see a licensed acupuncturist in your area and see if they have experience with this. You may have to check through a few before you find one you like, but that's ok.

If someone you come across is experience with "scalp acupuncture" they most likely can help.

It is very effective if you find someone who has good experience working with emotional issues. If your depression is clinical and you are on medications, you will need to have your prescribing doctor know of your seeing an L.Ac. so that the meds can be adjusted as needed.

Be sure to find a licensed practitioner in your area, an L.Ac. not just some doctor that "also does acupuncture". You can ask around for referrals and feel free to switch to someone else if you do not find success with your first choice.

Keep in mind it may take a while to work through your condition and though you may reduce treatments eventually, it may take a few to start seeing results.

I cannot predict the number of treatments any individual would require without seeing the person and assessing their personal situation. For a sprained neck it would take a few times - so not just a one and done.

Discuss your case with the acupuncturist and they will talk you through the process. They may also suggest herbal formulas or patches, or liniments. They may also suggest some stretches, dietary advise, nutritional supplementation, etc. Don't get caught up in doing too many things at once if they do and trust your feelings when you work with any practitioner.
