You can do a biopsy of the LN to test for lymphoma which is likely what the ENT will offer you. But if it's negative then the lymph nodes may just be general inflammation. There are other rare conditions that can be tested for, but they would also show up as abnormal tissue in the biopsy.

If it really bothers you and you want to learn to regulate the pitch of your voice better, go see a speech language pathologist.

Try popping your ears a few times, like you are on a plane. Likely you are experiencing a bit of temporary eustachian tube dysfunction. If the sensation does not clear up, have an audiogram (formal hearing test done) in order to rule out any sudden sensorineural hearing loss.

In the acute stage of loss, within 4 weeks of the change, the patient should be treated with a large dose of steroids for about 14 days in order to increase the chances of recovering the nerve function.
BUT your child should have a hearing test to confirm this type of hearing loss prior to being treated. Simple fluid within the middle ear space can cause a mild conductive hearing loss. This is NOT treated with steroids and will resolve within a few weeks
