Discharge is always a little disconcerting but some redness can be absolutely normal. Given the risks with bilateral surgery on the same day I would definitely reach out to her surgeon.

Sometimes they need to be drained in the office. If the redness and tenderness is spreading along the eyelid, it may be turning into an infection of the skin tissue, also known as preseptal cellulitis. I would recommend having a provider look at it in the office

Interesting question, astigmatism is irregular shape of the cornea on the front of the eye. Most people describe it as being more shaped like the side of a foot instead of symmetrically round like a basketball. Astigmatism, especially larger amounts of astigmatism can distort the shape of an image. Without seeing your glasses and checking your eyes I can not say whether the image without the glasses or with the glasses is the distorted image. The easiest way to find out is find something that is a perfect square(measure with a measuring tape) and then look at it with and without the glasses.

Do you effective contact lenses on the surface of the eye and more specifically the cornea are all depending on what type of contact lens you’re wearing. One of the biggest factors is how well oxygen and other nutrients pass through the contact lens to the cornea. If the cornea is deprived of nutrients and oxygen it can stimulate the eye to increase vascularization at the edge of the cornea to increase blood flow to help the cornea survive. Also if contact lens are worn more than they are designed for it can cause scarring and other damage on the surface of the eye. It can also cause abrasions which make you more susceptible to infections or scarring.

There are several causes of burning in the eyes (with or without a history of LASIK). Having had LASIK, the two most common causes of hypersensitivity and “burning“ sensation is ocular surface dryness. Definitely work with your LASIK surgeon to minimize this, if it’s adding to your difficulties. They should be able to tell through their examinations if there are signs of dryness. The second common cause of hypersensitivity after LASIK (which can add to dryness) is that your eyes have gone a long time with a protective covering from wind/dust/allergens/debris, i.e., your glasses or contacts. But after LASIK, if we are no longer wearing contacts or glasses, the surface of the eye is more exposed to the world than ever before. Hopefully this helps. The bottom line is that it can be from a lot of different things, and I would recommend you follow up with your LASIK surgeon to see what needs to be done to minimize this for you.
