Yes...but usually, thyroid sonogram (ultrasound) is done first. MRI is used if there are unresolved findings or problems.

Depends on the center where it is done...if the doctor labels it as stat...it can be ready in 1 day or less...but if it is routine, it can take 1-3 days...or more...
