Well, it is difficult to determine the exact Injury because there are multiple places this could happen on the foot. The most likely is either plantar fasciitis, which is at the heel, and a Morton’s neuroma, which is in between the toes. If it is a neuroma, you can try a metatarsal pad, which are available to purchase at any drugstore. If it is plantar fasciitis, which is very common and feels like walking on nails for some people, especially in the morning, this is just treated with stretching (calf/foot), rolling your foot on a frozen, partially filled water bottle, and sometimes getting a regenerative medicine injection. My philosophy is to treat the injury as early as possible. Be proactive, not reactive.

It would be best to consider getting imaging, including x-rays, and possible MRI, so that you can work with a good physical therapist to prevent not only progression but help with pain. Pain at 20 years old is not normal, don’t accept it. The longer you wait to treat it, the more severe it will get

Foot sprains are a completely separate discussion and very complicated and frustrating. These easily take 3 to 6 weeks even with really good physical therapy. Normal soreness should take one to two days depending on level of fitness. If taking longer than that could be something called DOMS.
