The most common cause of neuropathy is idiopathic-meaning cause is unknown. The 2nd most common cause is diabetes mellitus. If you have diabetes and it is controlled, these symptoms will decrease. You could also have problems with your circulation. Even osteoarthritis can have these symptoms. First find out the cause. I have had success using a homeopathic medicine for nerve pain. Hi, that would depend on what painkillers you are taking. Ironically there is no maximum limit for opiates. However the side effects and danger of taking them is greater with higher doses. There is a maximum recommended limit in taking Tylenol because too much Tylenol over time can cause liver damage. Guidelines are to limit to 3 gm/24 hours of Tylenol. Also maximum 24 dose of Ibuprofen or Motrin is 3200 mg. Using Motrin or NSAIDS chronically over extended time has risk of GI bleeding, renal and liver damage too.

If you have limited range of motion therapist will likely also include stretching exercises to restore your range of motion. Also therapists often apply modalities such as hot packs that reduce pain temporarily and help you to be able to participate in the exercises.
